Fertility Challenges

Fallopian tubes connect a woman’s ovaries to the uterus—allowing sperm to reach an ovulated egg and a fertilised egg to travel through the tube to implant in the lining of the womb. Sometimes, an obstruction can occur in one or both tubes. Blocked fallopian tubes are one of the main causes of female infertility.

Endometriosis is a chronic condition where tissue similar to the lining of the uterus grows outside the uterus. This tissue can be found on the ovaries, fallopian tubes, and other pelvic organs, causing pain, inflammation, and potentially leading to fertility challenges. Symptoms include pelvic pain, heavy menstrual bleeding, painful intercourse, and digestive issues.

Fibroids are benign growths - made up of smooth muscle cells and fibrous connective tissue - that can form in and around your uterus. The growths are generally non-threatening, but they can sometimes have a big impact on a woman’s ability to conceive.

Unfortunately for some women and couples, miscarriage is a part of their fertility journey. It’s a heartbreaking part of life that isn’t often talked about. In fact, up to one in five confirmed pregnancies will end in miscarriage. Happily, many women who miscarry will go on to have a perfectly healthy baby naturally.
